Mary E. LaFontana

Mary E. LaFontana, 52, of 235 North Plain Road, Housatonic, died Saturday at Fairview Hospital. Born in Springfield on Feb. 24, 1953, daughter of Bertha Magdalenski LaFontana and the late Leo J. LaFontana, she was a 1971 graduate of Monument Mountain Regional High School and attended flight attendant school in Utica, N.Y., for Delta Airlines. At the time of her death, Miss LaFontana was a machine operator for Becton Dickinson Co. in Canaan, Conn., where she had worked for more than 30 years. She was a communicant of All Saints' Church and a New York Yankees fan. She also enjoyed swimming. Besides her mother, of Housatonic, she leaves a brother, Michael LaFontana of Montgomery Center, Vt. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mary E. LaFontana, who died Feb. 18, will be celebrated Thursday, Feb. 23, at 10 at All Saints' Church in Housatonic by the Rev. Anthony Jutt, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Bridget's Cemetery, Housatonic. The family will receive friends at a calling hour preceding the funeral on Thursday, Feb. 23, from 8:30 to 9:30 at BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that expressions of sympathy in Mary's memory be made to Fairview Hospital, in care of BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230. She also leaves a niece, Emery LaFontana, a student in Brooklyn, N.Y. Mary's father, Leo, died Oct. 9, 2005. She was an animal lover, especially of dogs.
