Christine M. Schutz

Christine M. Schutz, 79, of 57 Summer St. died Saturday at North Adams Regional Hospital. Born in Cape Charles, Va., on Feb. 1, 1927, daughter of Joseph and Barbara Frank Etz, she attended schools there. She moved to Adams in 1946. Mrs. Schutz was a day-care provider at Child Care of the Berkshires for many years, where she was affectionately known as "Grandma Chris" by many area children. She retired in 1989. She was a communicant of the Parish of Notre Dame-St. Thomas and a member of Burnette-Bednarz Post 1995 Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. Her husband, Jacob Schutz, whom she married June 15, 1944, died Sept. 21, 1989. She leaves a son, retired Adams Police Chief Norman K. Schutz of Adams; two daughters, Barbara M. Wilson and Belinda A. Schutz, both of Adams; a brother, Edward Etz of Norfolk, Va.; 12 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Christine Mildred Schutz, who died Feb. 18, 2006, will be Saturday, March 4, at 9 from AUGE-PACIOREK-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, MA 01220, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Thomas' Church celebrated by the Rev. James F. McAndrews, SJ. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours will be Friday, March 3, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. She also leaves her daughter-in-law, Rosanne Schutz; her daughter Belinda's companion, Jonathan Harraden, and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice through the funeral home.
