Virginia P. Moore

Virginia P. Moore, 87, of Cooper Town Road, Tyringham, died yesterday at Fairview Commons. Born in Housatonic on Nov. 10, 1918, the daughter of John and Louise Minor Post, she moved to Pittsfield as a young girl and was a 1939 graduate of Pittsfield High School. She worked as an inspector in the Plastics Department at General Electric in Pittsfield from 1939 until 1945, and then worked at Eaton Paper Co. until 1948. She was last employed as a waitress at the Morgan House in Lee until 1951. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Lee. Her husband, Robert E. "Hooker" Moore, whom she married Nov. 10, 1951, died Oct. 1, 1990. She leaves two daughters, Beverly J. Crawford of Glendale and Margaret R. Day of Tampa, Fla.; a sister, Adeline P. Londergan of Pittsfield; six grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. She also leaves Denise Ritchie of Atlanta, Ga., whom she raised. She was predeceased by her son, Michael E. Moore, and her daughter, Patricia Feeney. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial service for Virginia P. Moore will be held Thursday morning at 10 at KELLY FUNERAL HOME, 3 Main St., Lee, with the Rev. Daniel Papineau, pastor of St. Mary's Church in Lee officiating. Burial will be a later date at St. Mary's Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday morning from 9 until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make donations to Alzheimer's Association in care of the funeral home, 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238.
