Lucy Rita Kenney

Lucy Rita Kenney, 91, of 46 Quincy St. died Wednesday evening at North Adams Regional Hospital, where she was admitted on Tuesday March 7th. Born in North Adams on June 13, 1914, daughter of the late Bruno Abuisi and Maria Mancusi Abuisi, she attended schools in North Adams, including the former St. Joseph's High School. Mrs. Kenney was last employed by the Sprague Electric Co. for over 40 years, until her retirement. Prior to that, she had been employed by the former Clark Biscuit Co. in North Adams. She was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church, and was very active in all church functions. She was a member of the St. Francis' Rosary Society and Court Margaret, Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She also enjoyed travel and socializing with her friends. Her husband, John Carroll Kenney, whom she married on Oct. 6, 1951, died on Aug. 14, 1983. She was the last of her immediate family. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Lucy Kenney, who died Wednesday, March 8, 2006, will be celebrated Saturday morning at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church. Burial will follow in the family lot in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS CENTRAL CHAPELS are Saturday morning from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. She leaves five nieces, Marie V. Lamarre of North Adams, Mary Whitman of Adams, Rita Portalupi of Destin, Fla., Gloria Stroutsos of Barre, Vt., and Mary Perreault of East Barre, Vt.; seven nephews, Silvio J. Lamarre Jr. and Anthony T. Abuisi Jr., both of North Adams, Francis Abuisi of Bethlehem, Pa.; Peter Abuisi of Vail, Colo; David Abuisi of Friendswood, Texas; Steven Abuisi of Pownal, Vt., and William Saliba of Leominster, and many grandnieces and grandnephews. Four sisters, Christine Lamarre, Jennie Saliba, Eleanor Abuisi, and Florence Reynolds, and two brothers, Peter Abuisi and Anthony T. Abuisi Sr., predeceased her. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Francis' Building Fund or to Elder Services of Berkshire County through the funeral home, 74 Marshall St. North Adams 01247.
