Bertha F. Moro

Bertha F. Moro, 81, of 142 Christian Hill Road died Thursday at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. Born in West Stockbridge on Feb. 4, 1925, daughter of Nora Blake Winters, she attended Pittsfield High School. She worked at Becton Dickinson in Canaan, Conn., Construct in Great Barrington, and was a waitress at the former Harpers, the former Casears and the former Oakwood Inn, all in Great Barrington. She was a member of the Southern Berkshire Women's Bowling League at Cove Lanes, and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, crossword puzzles and cards. She married Pio Moro Sr. on June 22, 1945. Besides her husband, Mrs. Moro leaves one son, Pio Moro Jr. of Housatonic; five daughters, Patricia Hoffman, Barbara Moro and Teri Fabian, all of Great Barrington, Joan Langevin of Tampa, Fla., and Kellie Stalker of Pittsfield; one brother, John O'Brien of Housatonic; three sisters, Eleanor Tarnawa of Housatonic, Jeanne Davis of Stockbridge and Edna Mead of Great Barrington; nine grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for Bertha F. Moro, who died Thursday, March 9, 2006, will be held on Saturday, March 11, at 11 a.m. at BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery. Family will receive friends at a calling hour preceding the funeral services on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. Family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Bertha's memory be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires, or to the Visiting Nurse Association of the Berkshires, in care of the funeral home, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230. Mrs. Moro also leaves a daughter-in-law, Loriann, and three sons-in-law, Richard, Paul and James.
