Claire Mae Hurlbut Fortini

Claire Mae Hurlbut Fortini, 76, of 94 Lincoln St., died Sunday morning at North Adams Regional Hospital, where she was admitted on Friday. Born in North Adams on Jan. 27, 1930, daughter of Richard T. and Ethel Irene Rowley Hurlbut, she attended schools in North Adams including Drury High School. Mrs. Fortini was employed by Wal-Mart in North Adams. Previously, she was employed by the former Zayre's Department Store. She had also worked at the former Clark Biscuit Co. and the Sprague Electric Co. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. She enjoyed playing bingo. She was the wife of Donald Frank Fortini, whom she married Sept. 4, 1954. He died Feb. 24, 1962. She leaves two daughters, Debra A. Rosselli, of Clarksburg, and Roberta L. Curran, of Williamstown; two sons, Stephen D. Fortini, of Peabody, and Paul A. Fortini, of Dalton; a sister, Carol Stevens, of Cross City, Fla., and four grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Claire Fortini, who died Sunday, March 12, 2006, will be held Wednesday, March 15, at 11 a.m., at First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Joseph DeCosta, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Southview cemetery. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association, Sweetbrook Care Center, or to Kid's Place of Pittsfield in care of FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, CENTRAL CHAPELS, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, MA 01247, which is in charge of arrangements. She leaves a son-in-law, Jeff Curran; the companions of her two sons, Karen D'Orlando and Melanie Bessette, respectively; four grandchildren, Sarah and Billy Fortini, Emily Rosselli, and Noah Curran, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three sisters and two brothers, Eleanor Fletcher, Barbara Haight, and Verna Luczynski, and Richard and Verne Hurlbut. Claire lived her life with pride, an endearing and enduring sense of humor, perseverance and a deep love and dedication for her family.
