Ruth O'Neil Cramer

Ruth O'Neil Cramer, 74, a resident of 255 High Street Hill, since 1997, died March 16 at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. Born in Pawcatuck, Conn., on July 18, 1931, daughter of Joseph J. and Ruth G. Barber O'Neil, she was a 1945 graduate of St. Michael's School and a 1949 graduate of Stonington (Conn.) High School. She continued her education at St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in Hartford, Conn., earning a nursing degree in 1954. A registered nurse for 45 years, she worked in the Hemodialysis Unit at Hartford Hospital for 25 of those years. After her retirement, she volunteered for five years in the Renal Dialysis Unit at Berkshire Medical Center. She was a member of the St. Francis Hospital Alumnae Association and the Mayflower Society. Her former husband, Wayne E. Cramer of West Springfield, died in February 2005. Mrs. Cramer leaves a son, John A. Cramer of Windsor; a daughter, Susan P. Lanni of Chicago; a brother, Joseph O'Neil of Pacolet Mills, S.C.; four sisters, Jean Fusaro and Stacia Donohue, both of Westerly, R.I., and Marie Roy and Frances O'Neil, both of Pawcatuck, and five grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial service for Ruth O'Neil Cramer, who died Thursday, March 16, 2006, will be held Sunday, March 26, at 1 p.m., at DERY FOLEY FUNERAL HOME, 890 East Main St., Dalton, with the Rev. Pasqual Baldasaro, deacon of St. Agnes Church, officiating. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. Cramer may be made to Berkshire Medical Center Renal Dialysis Unit in care of the funeral home. She also leaves a daughter-in-law Suzanne Towne (Cramer); a son-in-law, Carmine Lanni, and five grandchildren: Carolyn Lanni, Tess Lanni, Rebeccah Lanni, Miles Cramer, and Annalise Cramer. She was pre-deceased by three brothers, Grant, Raymond, and John.
