Sonia Drawec

Sonia Drawec, 92, of 52 Columbia St. died early Wednesday morning at the Sweetbrook Care Center in Williamstown. Born in Oed, Neb., on Sept. 22, 1913, daughter of the late Stanley and Sudwina Grzebein Bozek, she came to Adams as a child with her parents and attended Adams schools, including St. Stanislaus' School. She was employed at the former Hunter Outdoor Products in North Adams until retiring in 1975. Prior to that, she worked at the former Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams and the Berkshire Fine Spinning Co. in Adams. She was a communicant of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in Adams, and enjoyed playing bingo. Her husband, Clarence Drawec, whom she married on May 2, 1929, died Dec. 10, 1995. She leaves two sons, Donald Drawec of Savoy and James Drawec of Pittsfield; a brother, Edmund Bozek of Adams; a sister, Stella Dzierga of Adams; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- the funeral for Sonia Drawec, who died March 22, 2006, will take place Monday at 10 a.m. from TROTTIER-PRINGLE FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Stanislaus' Church in Adams. Calling hours will be Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. Donations in her memory may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Crippled Children through the funeral home, 6 Summer St., Adams, MA 01220. She leaves a daughter-in-law, Patricia Drawec; six grandchildren, Karen Witek and her husband Matthew Jr., Carmen Kaczowski and her husband Ronald, Donald K. Drawec and his wife Gailya, Donna Hajdas, Candace Williams and Melissa Drawec, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, William Bozek; a sister, Isabella Damato, and a daughter-in-law, Marie Drawec.
