Roland F. Mahoney

Roland F. Mahoney, 86, of North Main Road died Wednesday at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. Born in Holyoke on Jan. 5, 1920, son of Frank and Frieda Loescher Mahoney, he attended Holyoke schools. He was employed by the Hazen Paper Company in Holyoke for a number of years, moving to Otis in 1968, where he became involved in the antiques business. In his younger years, he was an amateur boxer in the Holyoke area. He was also a Boston Red Sox fan. He and his wife, the former Marcia L. Jones, were married May 5, 1968. Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Lori L. Mahoney of Otis, and two sisters, Eleanor Stefanski of East Hampton and Marion Bienvenue of Chicopee. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for Roland F. Mahoney, who died Wednesday, March 29, 2006, will be held Monday at 11 a.m. from KELLY FUNERAL HOME in Lee, with the Rev. George Karl, pastor, of the Sheffield Chapel, officiating. Burial will follow in the Otis Cemetery. Visiting hours at the Kelly Funeral Home will be Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations to the American Heart Association in care of the funeral home, 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238. Roland was devoted to his Christian belief. He leaves several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Ruth Snow and Evelyn Watson, and three brothers, William, Francis and Harold.
