Olisse John Pellegrini

Olisse John Pellegrini, 73, of VanDeusenville Road, Housatonic, died Saturday at Fairview Hospital. Born in Great Barrington on Dec. 16, 1932, son of Olise and Freda Springstube Pellegrini, he attended local schools. A Navy veteran of the Korean War, he enlisted March 18, 1952, and served aboard the USS Walter B. Cobb. He earned several campaign medals and was honorably discharged March 26, 1958. Mr. Pellegrini was a heavy-duty machine operator and was employed by the former Trinity Steel in Great Barrington and by Petricca Inc. in Pittsfield. Following his retirement from the construction industry, he work at Mount Everett Landscaping until 2005. As a youngster, he worked for his grandfather, Tony Pellegrini, at Mountain Sand and Gravel. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 98. His wife, the former Roberta Storti, whom he married April 14, 1962, in North Canaan, Conn., is deceased. He leaves four daughters, Anna Marie Loring of the state of Florida, Beth Weinreb of Tampa, Fla., Carol Leger of West Boylston and Deborah Johnson of Housatonic; a son, Peter "Tony" Pellegrini, stationed with the Coast Guard in Pennsylvania; a sister, Celestina Missaggia of Housatonic; a brother, Richard Joseph Pellegrini of the state of Florida.; 12 grandchildren, and a great-granddaughter. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A service celebrating the life of Olisse John Pellegrini, who died Saturday, April 8, 2006, will be conducted Wednesday, April 12, 2006, at 11 at FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME in Great Barrington by the Rev. Charles VanAusdall. A military burial service will be held at a later date. The family will receive friends tomorrow, April 11, 2006, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to either the American Legion or the American Cancer Society through the funeral home, 426 Main St., Great Barrington, MA 01230.
