Mabel Christina Bishop

Mabel Christina Bishop, 84, of 75 Commercial St. died Saturday at North Adams Commons. Born in Williamstown on Dec. 11, 1921, daughter of Clement and Harriet Robare Laliberte, she attended schools there. Mrs. Bishop worked for Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams for 31 years. Before that, she worked for five years at the former Cornish Wire Co. in North Adams. She was a communicant of the Parish of Notre Dame-St. Thomas and a member of the French Club, the Jollee Circle, the IUE 400 Retirees, the Spitzer Center in North Adams and the Adams Senior Citizens. She was also a chairwoman of the Hairpin Turners Dance Club for four years. Mrs. Bishop made wedding cakes for 23 years, and enjoyed knitting. Her husband, Prosper Bishop, died in 1983. She leaves two sons, Donald J. Pause of Savoy and Clifton L. Pause Jr. of Delhi, N.Y.; a sister, Marion Stevenson of Chatham, N.Y.; six grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Mabel C. Bishop, who died Saturday, April 22, 2006, will be Thursday, April 27, at 10 from AUGE-PACIOREK-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Adams. Burial will follow in Cheshire Cemetery, Cheshire. There will be no calling hours. She also leaves six grandchildren, Chad Pause and Donald J. Pause Jr., both of Savoy, Jason Pause of Lanesborough, Pamela D'Addzio of Walton, N.Y., Kathleen Goulet of Boonville, N.Y., and Michelle Furgerson of Delhi, N.Y., and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three sisters, Evelyn Laliberte, Mildred Carpenter and Grace Lozinski, and by three brothers, Richard, William and Wilfred Laliberte.
