John W. Daly

John W. Daly, 78, of 193 Elberon Ave., Rose Manor, died Wednesday at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Pittsfield on Oct. 11, 1927, son of William J. and Agnes E. Wise Daly, he attended local schools and was a 1945 graduate of St. Joseph's High School. Mr. Daly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the South Pacific. He was employed by the City of Pittsfield in the Maintenance Department. He also worked in the maintenance department at Miss Hall's School. A member of American Legion Post 68, he was a former communicant of St. Charles' Church and most recently had attended St. Mary's Church. He leaves a sister, Marilyn Potter of Pittsfield. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for John W. Daly, 78, who died Wednesday, April 26, 2006, will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. at DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME with the Rev. Paul Bombardier, pastor of St. Mary's Church, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. There are no calling hours. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, including Sally Leary, and his brother-in-law Charles "Duffy" Potter. He was predeceased by two sisters, Madeline St. Peter and Margaret Zimmerman.
