Jacqueline Diana Wein

Jacqueline Diana Wein, 79, of 201 Phelps Ave. died Tuesday at North Adams Regional Hospital, where she was admitted on Monday. Born in Springfield on Sept. 2, 1926, daughter of Nathan and Bessie Kaplan Winer, she attended schools in Springfield and graduated from Classical High School with the class of 1943. She also graduated from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst with the class of 1947, with a bachelor of science begree in physiology. She was last employed as the librarian at Conte Middle School in North Adams from 1975 to 1990. Mrs. Wein was previously employed as a kindergarten teacher at Mark Hopkins Elementary School in North Adams. She was an active member of Congregation Beth Israel in North Adams and was a former president of its Sisterhood. She was also a member of Hadassah. She leaves her husband of 58 years, Eugene Wein, whom she married on Oct. 12, 1947, in Springfield. She also leaves three daughters, Sherry Wein, Roberta Wein Sullivan and Paulette Wein, all of North Adams; a son, Lawrence Wein of Palo Alto, Calif; a brother, Earl Winer of Longmeadow, and six grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Jacqueline Wein, who died Tuesday, May 2, 2006, will be held Friday May 5, at 1 p.m. at Congregation Beth Israel, 53 Lois St. North Adams, MA, with Rabbi Jeffrey Goldwasser, Spritual Leader, and Rabbi Pamela Wax, officiating. Burial will follow in Beth Israel Cemetery in Clarksburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Congregation Beth Israel in care of FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS CENTRAL CHAPELS, 74 Marshall St. North Adams, MA 01247, which is in charge of arrangements. Friends are invited to call during Memorial Week at the home of Eugene Wein at 201 Phelps Ave., North Adams, between the hours of 7 and 9 p.m. from May 6 to May 10. Survivors include six grandchildren, Aaron Wray, Andrew Wein Sullivan, Emily Wein Sullivan, Alex Wein, Nicole Wein and Natasha Wein.
