Lawrence W. Walker

Lawrence W. Walker, 66, of 716 North St. died Monday afternoon at Mount Greylock Extended Care Facility, where he had resided for the past five weeks. Born in Pittsfield on May 24, 1939, son of Vernon and Rose Saltus Walker, he was a 1957 graduate of St. Joseph's High School and a lifelong resident of Pittsfield. He was an Airman First Class, serving in the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Walker was employed as a clerk at Jim's House of Shoes for 43 years, retiring in 2004. He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church. He enjoyed boating and photography. He leaves two brothers, Alan F. Walker of Pittsfield and Bruce Walker of Hickory, N.C. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Mr. Walker, who died Monday, May 8, 2006, also leaves his close friend, William Winerowski; his sisters-in-law, Barbara and Sarah; his loving nieces and nephews, Alan M., Joseph, Mary and Karen Walker, and Daniel and Christopher Walker; two grand-nieces, and a grand-nephew. Funeral services will be Saturday, May 13, at 8:15 a.m. from DWYER FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, celebrated by the Rev. Peter A. Gregory, pastor of St. Charles' Church. Entombment will follow in St. Michael the Archangel Mausoleum in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be at the funeral home on Friday, May 12, from 4 to 7 p.m. If friends desire, donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or to HospiceCare in the Berkshires, care of the funeral home, 776 North St., Pittsfield MA 01201, in his memory.
