Edna Ruby Rabouin

Edna Ruby Rabouin, 99, of 106 Richmond Road died Friday at home. Born in Adams on April 13, 1907, daughter of Herbert H. and Mary Cain Fitzroy, she was a graduate of Charlemont High School and was a 1928 graduate of Castleton State Teachers College, now Castleton State College. Mrs. Rabouin and her husband, the late Henry V. Rabouin, owned and operated H.V. Rabouin Trucking Inc., which they established in 1940. Before that, she ran Mount Pleasant Farm from 1928 to 1940 and taught school in Savoy until 1930. She volunteered in the Richmond public schools, was active in the 4-H, and enjoyed gardening and listening to classical music. Her husband, whom she married June 18, 1930, died March 26, 2002. She leaves two daughters, Sandra J. Kimple and Sue Ann White, both of Richmond; a sister, Elena Fitzroy of Williamstown; two grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Edna Ruby Rabouin, who died Friday, May 12, 2006, will be conducted Thursday at 11 at WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME by the Rev. Irene Jones, pastor of Richmond Congregational Church. Burial will be in Hancock Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 5 to 8 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to either the Hancock Volunteer Fire Department or the Hancock School Scholarship Fund, both in care of the funeral home, 220 East St., Pittsfield, MA 01201. She leaves a granddaughter, Laura Mitchell and her husband, Jon, of Dover, N.H.; a grandson, Stephen Kimple of New Lebanon, N.Y.; three great-grandchildren, Megan Mitchell of Dover and Colin and Cory Kimple of Richmond; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; her Corgi, Tazz; her cat, Max, and her horses. She enjoyed volunteering whenever help was needed.
