Donald G. "Goody" Goodrich Jr.

Donald G. "Goody" Goodrich Jr., 72, of Columbia Street died yesterday at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. Born in Pittsfield on May 20, 1933, son of Donald G. Goodrich Sr. and Gertrude Freilly Goodrich, he was a 1952 graduate of Pittsfield High School. He lived in the Berkshire Village section of Lanesborough before moving to Lee in 1958. Mr. Goodrich was a machinist at Clark Aiken Co. for 36 years until it closed in 1986. He then worked for Price Chopper, the town of Lee and the Southern Berkshire Regional School District. He was a member of Evening Star Lodge AF & AM for 43 years and enjoyed fishing, reading the morning paper at Wood's Pond in Lenox and going to turkey shoots. He and his wife, the former Mary Lou Stevenson, were married Aug. 9, 1958. Besides his wife, he leaves a son, David W. Goodrich of Lee; three daughters, Holly M. Somerville and Monica A. Dingman, both of Lee, and Karen E. Byrne of South Egremont; two sisters, Ardith Dixon of Pittsfield and Carol Ouelette of Berkshire Village, and nine grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Donald G. Goodrich, who died Monday, May 15, 2006, will be celebrated Thursday at 10 at St. Mary's Church in Lee. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Lee. There will be no visiting hours. Friends wishing may make donations in his memory to Evening Star Lodge AF & AM in care of KELLY FUNERAL HOME, 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238. Mr. Goodrich enjoyed spending time with his nine grandchildren, Sherman and Timothy Somerville, James, Stephen, Christopher and Tiffany Byrne, Eden Goodrich, Rachel Barnett and Adam Dingman.
