Nancy Lee Hamling

Nancy Lee Hamling, 60, of 16 Country Road died Thursday at home. Born in Pittsfield on Dec. 3, 1945, daughter of Edward Rawling and the late Beverly Barrett Rawling, she was a 1964 graduate of Pittsfield High School. Mrs. Hamling was employed by the former A.H. Rice Co. for four years, retiring as an inspector in 1998 because of ill health. Before that, she was a teacher's aide. She also worked for four years as a seamstress for Country Curtains. She was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church and enjoyed crafting and riding motorcycles. She also collected teddy bears. She was married to Ronald B. Hamling. Besides her husband and father, of Fort Pierce, Fla., she leaves a son, Kevin Hamling of Eden, N.C.; two daughters, Karen Owens and Kellie Hamling, both of Pittsfield; two brothers, James Rawling of Stephentown, N.Y., and Raymond Rawling of Bellows Falls, Vt.; three sisters, Dorothy Damon of Hinsdale, Martha Pease of Fort Pierce and Mary Hiebler of Chatham, N.Y.; three grandchildren, and a great-grandson. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Nancy Lee Rawling Hamling, who died Thursday, May 18, 2006, will be Tuesday, May 23, at 8:15 a.m. from DERY FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church celebrated by the Rev. Michael A. Shershanovich, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Hamling leaves three grandchildren, Sarah Damon, Zechariah Damon and Christina Kaiser, and a great-grandson, Kaleb. She was predeceased by a brother, Thomas Rawling.
