Laura Banas

Laura Banas, 83, of 60 East Main St. died Saturday at Hillcrest Commons in Pittsfield, where she had resided for three years. Born in Adams on Jan. 1, 1923, daughter of Frank and Honorata Frodyma Wilusz, she attended Adams schools. She moved to Cheshire in 1950. Mrs. Banas was employed by the former Rudnick Woolen Mill in Dalton as a spinner, retiring in 1980. Before that, she was employed by the former Berkshire Fine Spinning Associates and the Miss Adams Diner in Adams. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church. She and her husband, Matthew J. Banas, were married Aug. 8, 1942. He died July 15, 1993. She leaves a sister, Mary Ashley of Zephyrhills, Fla., and a brother, Edward Wilusz of West Chester, Ohio. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Laura Banas, who died Saturday, May 27, 2006, will be Thursday at 9 from AUGE-PACIOREK-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Cheshire, celebrated by the Rev. David Raymond, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours will be tomorrow from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to St. Mary of the Assumption Church or to the Cheshire Volunteer Fire Department through the funeral home, 13 Hoosac St. Adams, MA 01220. She also leaves nieces and nephews, including Cheryll Larkin of Cheshire, and grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by three sisters, Helen Levesque, Anna Zgrzebniak and Genevieve Petronick, and by three brothers, John, Theodore and Stanley Wilusz.
