Benjamin Peter Warchol

Benjamin Peter Warchol, 82, of 4 East Orchard Terrace died Thursday evening at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. Born in Adams on Feb. 13, 1924, son of Peter and Mary Szpila Warchol, he attended Adams schools, and graduated from the former Adams High School, where he was active in sports. Mr. Warchol was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, serving with Company B of the 156th Infantry Regiment in the European Theater. He was employed by the power transformer division of General Electric Co. in Pittsfield for over 30 years, retiring in 1989. He was a communicant of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, and a member of the St. Stanislaus Kostka Society. He was a golfer and bowler, and was a member of Forest Park Country Club and the East Hoosac AA Bowling League. He and his wife, the former Stella I. Nowak, were married Feb. 7, 1953. Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Dawn Clairmont of Sugar Land, Texas; a sister, Monica Warchol of Conn.; and two grandsons. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Benjamin Warchol, who died Thursday, June 1, 2006, will be held on Monday, June 5, at 9 a.m. from AUGE-PACIOREK-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams, celebrated by the Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, pastor of the Catholic Parishes of Adams. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours are Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to St. Stanislaus Church through the funeral home, 13 Hoosac St. Adams, 01220. He also leaves a son-in-law, Vincent; two grandsons, Brett and Todd Clairmont, and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was predeceased by four sisters, Helen Green, Wanda Mierzejewski, Frances Knudsen, and Claudia Warchol, and by a brother, Edmund Warchol.
