Russell Joseph Mazza Jr.

Russell Joseph Mazza Jr., 73, of 1 Raymond Court died Friday at North Adams Regional Hospital. Born in Kingston, N.Y., on July 25, 1932, son of Russell Joseph Mazza Sr. and Mary Schabot Mazza, he attended schools in North Adams. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. Mr. Mazza was employed by the former Sprague Electric Co. Previously, he was employed by the former Widen Tannery. He was a communicant of St. Francis' Church and a member of Frank R. Stiles Post 125 American Legion. He and his wife, the former Katherine Crawford, were married May 18, 1973. She died Oct. 18, 1997. He leaves a daughter, Linda Snow of North Adams, with whom he made his home; two sons, Russell Joseph Mazza III of Baltimore and Carl Eugene Neathawk of Dallas, Ga.; four stepsons, Leon Neathawk of New Windsor, N.Y., Steven Neathawk of North Adams, Charles Neathawk of Stamford, Vt., and Robert Weeks of Bangor, Maine, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Patricia Mazza. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Russell J. Mazza, who died Friday, June 9, 2006, will be tomorrow at 10:15 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, CENTRAL CHAPEL, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at St. Francis' Church, North Adams. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home will be today from 5 to 7. Memorial donations are suggested for the North Adams Ambulance Service through the funeral home. He also leaves an aunt, Esther Poplaski of North Adams. He was presdeceased by a sister, Constance Simon, and by two brothers, Anthony and Pasquale Mazza.
