Leora M. Smith

Leora M. Smith, 74, of Wareham, formerly of Becket, died Saturday at Tobey Hospital in Wareham. Born in West Springfield on Dec. 20, 1931, daughter of Ralph R. and Leora Williams Johnson, she lived in West Springfield, Southwick and Becket for most of her life before moving to Wareham in 1975. She was a 1950 graduate of West Springfield High School. While in Becket, Mrs. Smith owned and operated the Summit House Restaurant for about 10 years. In Wareham, she was employed by Milbrook Nursing Home as a nurses' aide. She was a member of the Sippican Seniors in Marion and enjoyed playing bingo and going to Foxwoods Casino. She and her husband, Richard H. Smith, were married March 8, 1953. He is deceased. She leaves two sons, Dale R. Smith of Cary, N.C., and Jay C. Smith of Marion; a daughter, Bonnie L. Smith of Wareham; a brother, Charles H. Johnson of Georgetown, Del.; seven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial service for Leora M. "Lee" Johnson Smith, who died Saturday June 17, 2006, will be held Wednesday at 11 at SAUNDERS-DWYER MATTAPOISETT HOME FOR FUNERALS, 50 County Road, Mattapoisett.
