Charles G. Crowley

Charles G. Crowley, 73, of 90 Versailles Ave. died Wednesday June 21, 2006, at his home. Born in Readsboro, Vt. on May 9, 1933, son of the late Joseph John Crowley and Yvonne L. Roy Crowley, he attended schools in North Adams and graduated from Drury High School in 1951. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War as an airman first class from July 9, 1951, until being honorably discharged on June 6, 1955. He was decorated with the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. He was employed as a printer at various shops and companies throughout New England, retiring in September 1988. He then was employed part-time at the Sterling & Francine Clark Art Museum in Williamstown. Mr. Crowley was a communicant of Our Lady of Mercy Church in North Adams. He was a member of the Frank R. Stiles Post 125 American Legion in North Adams. He leaves his wife, the former Rachel LeClair, whom he married Aug. 1, 1953, in Long Beach, Calif. In addition to his wife, he leaves two daughters, Debra Gauthier of Hancock and Cynthia Ferris of Pittsfield; a son, Michael Crowley of Portland, Maine; a brother, Joseph Crowley of Williamstown; a sister, Yvonne Hubbard of Ventura, Calif.; five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for Charles G. Crowley, who died June 21, 2006, will take place Monday, June 26, at 8:15 a.m. at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St. North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Church in North Adams. Burial with military honors will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. Memorial donations are suggested for the VNA & Hospice of Northern Berkshire or the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center Regional Cancer Center through the funeral home. He leaves five grandchildren, Amy Accetta, Erin Gauthier, Vincent Tardibuono, and Peter and Kevin Crowley, and one great-grandchild, Bailee Duquette. He was predeceased by two brothers, Paul and Francis Crowley, and one sister, Bernadette O'Neill.
