Olive I. Galeucia

Olive I. Galeucia, 97, formerly of Michaels Road, died Monday at Springside of Pittsfield nursing facility, where she had resided for 10 years. Born in West Cummington on Dec. 13, 1908, daughter of Charles and Angie Hathaway Vincent, she attended school in Cummington. Mrs. Galeucia was a nurses' aide at the former Ashmere Nursing Home from 1955 until retiring in 1965. From 1942 to 1955, she was a telephone operator in Hinsdale. She was a former member of Hinsdale Congregational Church and of the former Hinsdale Grange, and a member of the Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed flower gardening. Her husband, Daniel Galeucia, whom she married Feb. 10, 1923, died in 1962. She leaves two daughters, June Adams of Dudley and Betty O'Dell of Zephyrhills, Fla.; three sons, Warren and James Galeucia, both of Pittsfield, and Nelson Galeucia of Hinsdale, and nine grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Daniel Galeucia. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Olive I. Galeucia, who died June 26, 2006, will be conducted Friday at 11 at Hinsdale Congregational Church by the Rev. Carolyn Peck, pastor. Burial will be in Maple Street Cemetery. A visitation will be held the day of the service from 10 until the service at the church. Donations in her memory are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association, 153 Magazine St., Springfield, MA 01109. BARTLETT-WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME, Dalton, is in charge of arrangements. She was predeceased by a sister, Alta Whitaker.
