Marion Collins

Marion Collins, 82, of 432 Eagle St. died yesterday at North Adams Regional Hospital. Born in North Adams on Dec. 26, 1923, daughter of William J. and Gladys Francis Geddes, she graduated from Drury High School in 1941 and from Middlebury College in 1945. Mrs. Collins assisted her husband, Irving H. Collins, in the operation of Collins Appliance & Repair, retiring in 1991. Before that, she worked with her husband and brother-in-law, Louis Gagliardi, in the operation of Gagliardi's Appliance and Kitchen Center until 1981, when the business was sold. She was a member of First Congregational Church and enjoyed reading and attending Drury High baseball, basketball and football games. She and her husband were married Dec. 12, 1944. He died June 16, 2004. She leaves a daughter, Marilyn Collins Truskowski of North Adams; a son, Robert W. Collins, of North Adams; a sister, Margaret Gagliardi of North Adams; four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A funeral to celebrate the life of Marion Geddes Collins, who died July 4, 2006, will be conducted Friday at 10:30 at First Congregational Church in North Adams by the Rev. Jill Graham, pastor. Burial will follow in the family lot in Southview Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the FORD (Friends of Renal Dialysis) at Berkshire Medical Center or to First Congregational Church, both in care of FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, CENTRAL CHAPEL, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, MA 01247, which is in charge of arrangements. She also leaves a son-in-law, Joseph Truskowski; a daughter-in-law, Sharyn K. Collins; four grandchildren, Joelle Collins McDonough, and her husband, Matthew, and Rebecca Collins Polumbo, and her husband, Gary, all of North Adams, Jeffrey Truskowski of Framingham, and Brian Truskowski of Wilmington, N.C.; five great-grandchildren, Emma, Joshua and Sarah Polumbo, and William and Benjamin McDonough, and several nieces. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
