Sophie Kalisz, 94
ADAMS, Mass. — Sophie Kalisz, 94, of 16 Siara St. died Monday, July 3, 2006, at North Adams Regional Hospital.
Born in Adams on Sept. 13, 1911, daughter of John and Mary Banas Leja, she attended St. Stanislaus' School.
Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Kalisz worked for several years as a weaver at the former Berkshire Fine Spinning Associates.
She was a communicant of St. Stanislaus' Church and a member of its Rosary Sodality. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and sewing.
Her husband, Henry J. Kalisz, whom she married Oct. 5, 1931, died Sept. 5, 1998.
She leaves a son, Henry J. Kalisz and his wife, Carole, of Williamstown; a daughter, Marcella A. Kalisz of Adams; two sisters, Felicia Skowronski and Helen Lubowicz, both of Adams; three brothers, Stanley Leja and Thaddeus Leja, both of Adams, and Ernest Leja of Henderson, Nev.; two grandchildren, John Kalisz and his wife, Jaime, of New Lebanon, N.Y., and Mary Boyle and her husband, Alex, of Mount Vernon, N.Y.; a great-grandson, Gabriel John Kalisz of New Lebanon, and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was predeceased by a brother, Frank Leja, and by two sisters, Cecelia Frodyma and Veronica Starsiak.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Services Mrs. Kalisz will be Saturday at 9 from AUGE-PACIOREK-SIMMONS Funeral Home, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Stanislaus' Church in Adams.
Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus' Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Members of the St. Stanislaus Rosary Sodality will meet at the funeral home on Friday at 3:40 to recite the rosary and pay their respects. Memorial donations may be made to St. Stanislaus' School through the funeral home.
