Alice Agnes Sheldon

Alice Agnes Sheldon, 93, formerly of 103 Main St., died yesterday at Williamstown Commons. Born in North Adams on June 2, 1913, daughter of Charles and Alice Birch Sheldon, she lived in Pownal, Vt., for a short time before moving to North Adams at a young age. She graduated from Drury High School in 1931 and from the New England Sanitorium & Hospital in Stoneham in 1934. After working as a nurse for a short time, she joined the former Wall-Streeter Shoe Co., where she was employed for many years until the company ceased operations in 1973. She then assisted her mother in the operation of Alice's Yarn Shop, retiring when that business was sold. Miss Sheldon was a member of First Congregational Church. She enjoyed cooking and knitting. She leaves a brother, Raymond Sheldon of South Carolina. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Alice Sheldon, who died July 4, 2006, will take place tomorrow at 2 at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, WEST CHAPEL. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow from noon to 2. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested for the Williamstown Commons Activities Fund or the Alzheimer's Association, both in care of the funeral home, 521 West Main St., North Adams, MA 01247. She also leaves several cousins, including her caregiver, Miss Arline M. Sheldon of Williamstown. She was predeceased by a brother, Glen Sheldon.
