Charles I. King

Charles I. King, 80, of 161 Bradford St. died Wednesday at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Pittsfield on Feb. 6, 1926, son of Walter J. King Sr. and Theresa Gough King, he was educated in local schools. A World War II Army veteran, he joined in October 1945, serving until being honorably discharged in 1947. He worked for more than 30 years with the Pittsfield Department of Public Works as a sanitation engineer. He was a member of the Froio Senior Center and enjoyed going to races at Lebanon Valley Speedway in New York. He leaves no immediate family. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral service for Charles King, who died Wednesday, July 5, 2006, will be held on Monday, July 10, at 2 p.m. at WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 220 East St., Pittsfield. Calling hours will be at the funeral home from noon to 2 p.m. prior to the service. At the family's request, please do not send flowers, and instead send memorial donations to the Ralph J. Froio Center or to Elder Services of Berkshire County in care of the funeral home, 220 East St., Pittsfield, MA 01201. Mr. King leaves behind two sisters-in-law, Gladys King of Pittsfield and Alice King of Dalton, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Dorothy Chilson, and four brothers, Walter, Kenneth, Harold, and Howard King.
