Joy W. Gottlieb

Joy W. Gottlieb, 81, of Salisbury Road died Tuesday at Fairview Hospital in Great Barrington. She spent winters in West Palm Beach, Fla. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Nov. 12, 1924, daughter of David and Rose Fischberg Woronock, she graduated from Erasmus Hall High School and from Beaver College, now Arcadia University, in Jenkintown, Pa. A longtime resident of Larchmont, N.Y., she moved to Sheffield in the early 1970s Mrs. Gottlieb was primarily a homemaker. She was a volunteer for many years at the Bronx State Medical Center as well as for several other charitable organizations. She played golf and was a member of Wyantenuck Country Club. Her husband, Arnold Gottlieb, whom she married Sept. 9, 1948, at the Hampshire House in Manhattan, died April 7, 2001. She leaves a son, Andrew M. Gottlieb of Cooper City, Fla.; a daughter, Jill G. Seagraves of Upper Montclair, N.J., and two grandsons. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The family will hold a memorial gathering at a later date to celebrate the life of Joy Woronock Gottlieb, who died Tuesday, July 11, 2006. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to either the Fairview Hospital Annual Fund or HospiceCare in the Berkshires through FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME, 426 Main St., Great Barrington, MA 01230. She leaves her son-in-law, Donald Seagraves, and her grandsons, Ethan and Kyle Seagraves. Joy was a dedicated wife and mother who cherished her time spent with family and friends.
