Margaret O. Noonan

Margaret O. Noonan, 93, of Little Rock, Ark., formerly of Academy Street, died Tuesday at Hospice Home Care in Little Rock. Born in Lee on July 16, 1913, daughter of James T. and Julia Egan Owens, she graduated from St. Mary's Grammar School, from Sacred Heart Academy in Albany, N.Y., in 1930, and from Manhattanville College in New York in 1934. She moved to Little Rock in 2002. She returned to Lee in 1934 to join her father and sister, Julia Holmes, in the operation of J.T. Owens clothing store on Main Street. She and her sister operated the store following Mr. Owens' death in 1954. Following her sister's retirement in the late 1960s, she and her husband ran the business. She moved to Rolling Hills in Lenox in 1979, where she resided for 19 years until moving to South Bend, Ind. She was a former communicant of St. Mary's Church, a member of the Lee Visiting Nurse and Lee Library associations, and a volunteer at Berkshire Medical Center. She enjoyed playing bridge. Her husband, James T. Noonan, whom she married Sept. 17, 1940, died May 27, 1978. Besides her sister, of Lenox, she leaves a son, Peter J. Noonan of Little Rock, and two grandsons. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A graveside service for Margaret Owens Noonan, who died July 18, 2006, will be conducted Saturday, July 29, at 10 at St. Mary's Cemetery in Lee. Those wishing may make donations to St. Mary's Church or to Covenant House, P.O. Box JAF 2973, New York, NY 10116-2973. KELLY FUNERAL HOME is in charge of local arrangements. She leaves her daughter-in-law, Pamela; her grandsons, Matthew O. and Gregory B. Noonan, and her niece, Patricia Macken.
