Lydia Farr

Lydia Farr, 95, formerly of Bostwick Gardens, died yesterday at Great Barrington Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, where she had resided since 1994. Born in Great Barrington on Nov. 2, 1910, daughter of Joseph and Judith Ottinny Anselmini, she graduated from the former Searles High School and spent two years at a business school in New York. Mrs. Farr was a waitress at the former Jack's Restaurant on Bridge Street and at the former Cove Restaurant, retiring in 1975. Before that, she was a proofreader for the former Berkshire Courier. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, and knitting. Her husband, Edward W. Farr, died in 1986. She leaves a daughter, Beverly Kimball of Sheffield; a sister, Mary Delmolino of Great Barrington; two grandchildren, and a great-granddaughter. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of the Word celebrating the life of Lydia Farr, who died Wednesday, July 26, 2006, will be conducted Saturday, July 29, 2006, at 11 at FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME in Great Barrington by the Rev. Shaun O'Connor, MIC. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Great Barrington. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10 until the time of the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Southern Berkshire Elderly Transportation through the funeral home, 426 Main St., Great Barrington, MA 01230. She leaves a son-in-law, James E. "Kim" Kimball III; a grandson, William E. Morrow; a granddaughter, Lori A. Stockwell and her husband, Jeffrey; a great-granddaughter, Jordyn Cassidy Stockwell, with whom she shared a very special relationship, and several nieces and nephews. Lydia was also predeceased by two sisters, Alma Herbert and Mildred Anselmini. Above all else, Lydia cherished spending time with her family and friends.
