Betty Ann Turner

Betty Ann Turner, 77, of 46 Railroad St. died Thursday at home. Born in Great Barrington on Dec. 22, 1928, daughter of Frank and Eva Humes Rood, she attended schools in Mill River. She resided on Clayton Road in Ashley Falls before moving to Lee in 1996. Mrs. Turner worked in the kitchen and housekeeping departments at Geer Memorial Health Care Facility in Canaan, Conn., for 20 years, retiring in 1990. Before that, she was a chambermaid at the former Jug End Barn in South Egremont. Her husband, Robert I. Turner Sr., whom she married July 11, 1949, in Southfield, died Aug. 11, 1990. She leaves two sons, Robert I. Turner Jr. of Canaan and George A. Turner of Ashley Falls; two daughters, Susan G. Rueger of Canaan and Debra L. Crosby of Ashley Falls; 10 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Memorial Service for Betty Ann Turner, who died Thursday, July 27, 2006, will be conducted Thursday, Aug. 3, at 10 at Elmwood Cemetery by the Rev. Alan Macy. There will be no calling hours. Expressions of sympathy in Betty's memory may be made to the Southern Berkshire Volunteer Ambulance Squad in care of BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230-1815, which is in charge of arrangements. She enjoyed spending time with her family and her devoted cat, Marshmallow.
