Antoinette Marguerite Simonelli

Antoinette Marguerite Simonelli, 89, a longtime resident of 13 Marietta St., died Thursday at Sweet Brook Nursing Home in Williamstown. Born in Castel Marrone, Italy, on Jan. 3, 1917, daughter of Sebastiano and Anna Siano DiLorenzo, she emigrated to the United States with her family in 1926 and attended local schools. Mrs. Simonelli began sewing at an early age, turning it into a career as a seamstress and tailor. She worked for many years as a seamstress in local department stores, including the former Roberts Co., the former Boston Store and the former England's department store. She also worked at home, creating wedding gowns and making draperies. She was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church and a member of its Rosary Society and Women's Bowling League. She also volunteered at the church's annual bazaar. Her husband, Joseph Anthony Simonelli, whom she married Sept. 2, 1940, died April 26, 1958. She leaves three daughters, Lucy Milette of Clarksburg, Anne Marie Romanos of Adams and Jo Ann LeSage of Clifton Park, N.Y.; a son, Anthony Simonelli of Lenox; a brother, John DiLorenzo of Clarksburg; 14 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Antoinette DiLorenzo Simonelli, who died Thursday afternoon, July 27, 2006, at Sweet Brook Care Centers with her loved ones at her side, will be Monday morning, July 31, 2006 at 8:15 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, CENTRAL CHAPEL, North Adams, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 at St. Anthony's Church, North Adams. Burial will follow in the family lot in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Sunday from 4 to 8. Flowers may be sent or memorial contributions may be made to St. Anthony of Padua Church or the Alzheimer's Association of Western Mass., in care of the funeral home, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, MA 01247. She was an excellent cook, and her home was the center of family gatherings throughout her life. She leaves three daughters, Lucy Milette of Clarksburg, Anne Marie Romanos and her husband, Leo Romanos Jr., of Adams, and Jo Ann LeSage and her husband, Christopher Nelson, of Clifton Park, N.Y.; a son, Anthony Simonelli and his wife, Gina, of Lenox; 14 grandchildren, Lisa Milette DeGroff and her husband, Bruce, Steven Milette and his wife, Kathy, Mark Simonelli and his wife, Carolyn, Evan Simonelli, Joseph Romanos, Andrew Romanos, Diana LeSage Dyer and her husband, John, Ethan LeSage, Heather Nelson, and Jennifer Nelson; five great-grandchildren, Timothy DeGroff, Steven DeGroff, Nathaniel Milette, Nico Milette and Carmella Simonelli; a brother, John DiLorenzo and his wife, Barbara, of Clarksburg; four sisters-in-law, Mary Iris DiLorenzo, Dorothy DiLorenzo, Enis Simonelli and Mary Crandall, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son-in law, Richard Milette, and by two brothers, Joseph and Pasquale DiLorenzo.
