Viola May Harvey

Viola May Harvey, 91, of 611 Middle Road died Tuesday morning at North Adams Regional Hospital. Born in Stamford, Vt. on May 29, 1915, daughter of Adelord Gelinas and Josephine Scarbo Gelinas, she attended schools in Stamford, Vt. Mrs. Harvey operated Harvey's Vegetable Stand in Clarksburg for more than 20 years. Prior to that, she and her husband, the late Frederick George Harvey, built Vi's Dairy Barin Stamford. S he also worked at the former Pedercini's Dairy Bar in Clarksburg, which she later purchased and operated as Vi's Dairy Bar. Previously, she worked at the former Pete's Diner. She was first employed by the former Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams. Her husband, whom she married on Dec. 31, 1931, in St. Francis of Assisi Church, died on Jan. 17, 1998. She leaves three sons, Donald Arthur Harvey, David Frederick Harvey and Raymond Wilfred Harvey, all of Clarksburg; a sister, Alvina Schonfelder of Cheshire, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Viola Harvey, who died Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2006, will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday August 3, at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Burial will follow in Clarksburg Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Thursday morning from 9 until 11. Donations may be made to the Clarksburg Volunteer Fire Department or the Clarksburg Library in care of the funeral home. She also leaves three-daughters-in-law, Myrna, Sally and Lisa; four grandchildren, Donna Beebe and Kathi Lampron of North Adams, Garret Harvey and Taylor Harvey of Clarksburg; and two great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Jennifer Beebe of North Adams. Two brothers and six sisters are deceased, Wilfred Gelinas, David Gelinas, Delina Therrien, Alta Deso, Aldora Harris, Rose Walczak, Exilda Beauchamp and Malvina Harvey.
