Marion Lucy Pierce

Marion Lucy Pierce, 94, of 14 Hilbert St. died late Tuesday evening at North Adams Regional Hospital. Born in Richford, Vt., on March 2, 1912, daughter of John W. and Rose L. Pelkey Gardner, she came to Adams with her family in 1925, and attended schools in both Vermont and Adams. Mrs. Pierce last worked as a nurse's aide at the former Rest Haven Nursing Home in North Adams for 16 years, until retiring in 1970. She was a communicant of the Parish of Notre Dame and St. Thomas. Her husband, Oliver W. Pierce, whom she married Nov. 29, 1930, died Jan. 9, 1979. She leaves two daughters, Evelyn E. Rochelo and Myrtle M. Franceschini, both of Adams; 17 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by three sons, Charles, Wilfred and Alfred Pierce. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Marion Lucy Pierce, who died Aug. 1, 2006, will be held Monday, Aug. 7, at 9 a.m. from AUGE-PACIOREK-SIMMONS Funeral Home, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Adams, celebrated by the Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, pastor of the Catholic Parishes of Adams. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours are Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. She was predeceased by a brother, Arthur Gardner; four sisters, Agnes Rose, Helen Bombardier, Rose Derosia and Mary Malloy, and three great-grandchildren.
