Geraldine A. LaJoie, 88, a former longtime resident of Balance Rock Road, died Saturday at Hillcrest Commons, where she had resided since 2003. Born in Pittsfield on June 7, 1918, daughter of Herbert V. and Pearl Elizabeth Spring, she was a 1936 graduate of Pittsfield High School. Mrs. LaJoie was employed in the programming department at the former Sheaffer-Eaton Co., retiring in 1976. She enjoyed embroidery, shopping and vacationing on Cape Cod. Her husband, James F. LaJoie, whom she married Jan. 16, 1944, died Jan. 31, 1998. She leaves a son, James LaJoie II of Stamford, Conn.; a daughter, Patricia Jones of Pittsfield; a sister, Eleanor Murphy of Pittsfield; six grandchildren, and a great-grandson. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Geraldine A. LaJoie, 88, who died Saturday, Aug. 5, 2006, will be conducted tomorrow at 1 at DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME by the Rev. Michael Shershanovich, pastor of St. Joseph's Church. Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, donations in her memory may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home, 40 Maplewood Ave., Pittsfield, MA 01201. She leaves her grandchildren, Christine, Michelle and Corrine LaJoie, James LaJoie III, Pamela Jones and Howard Jones III, and her great-grandson, Joseph Jones.
