Richard A. Dupras

Richard A. Dupras, 58, of 235 Prospect St. died yesterday morning at home Born in Adams on Oct. 14, 1947, son of Donald E. and Louise A. Bombardier Dupras, he was a 1965 graduate of the former Adams Memorial High School, during which time he was employed by the former Adams Supermarket. He graduated in 1971 from Berkshire Community College with an associate's degree in business. Mr. Dupras moved to Framingham in 1973, and to Lee in 1979. He was a Marine Corp veteran of the Vietnam War, serving from 1966 to 1969. He served in Vietnam for 13 months, and received the Navy commendation medal with "V" for valor in combat. He was discharged with the rank of sergeant. Later, he served with the Yankee Division of the Mass. National Guard for six years. Mr. Dupras and his wife, the former Rita R. Perras, built Lee Storage on Canal Street in Lee in 1998. They opened Dupras Liquor Mart on the same street in 1979. Prior to that, he was employed as assistant manager by the Giant Discount Store in North Adams from 1971 to 1973. In 1973, he became employed by Kings Department store in Watertown as an assistant manager. He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, a life member of the Bossidy Crerar Post 893 VFW of Lee and a life member of the 3rd Marine Division Association, both State and National. He was also a life member of Kilo 4th Battalion, He also held a Massachusetts state real estate license. He leaves his wife, whom he married May 6, 1972; a son, Brian R. Dupras of Lee; a daughter, Brenda C. Bianco of Lee; two brothers, Gary Dupras of Lee and Jack Dupras of Tujunga, Calif., and two grandsons. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Richard Dupras, who died Friday, Aug. 4, 2006, will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 9, at St. Mary's Church in Lee. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. There will be no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations to Our Kids Inc. in care of KELLY FUNERAL HOME, 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238. He also leaves two grandsons, Zachary and Jacob Bianco. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert Dupras of Burbank, Calif.
