Richard L. du Pont

Richard L. du Pont, 52, of 2 Lahey Crossroad died Sunday at home. Born in Pittsfield on July 20, 1954, son of Richard H. and Yvonne Hillmaye du Pont, he was a 1972 graduate of Lee High School and received his bachelor of science degree in information systems and business from American International College in 1986. He also received an associate degree in nursing in 1997 from Berkshire Community College. He served in the Air Force from 1972 to 1974. A registered nurse, Mr. du Pont was employed by Kimball Farms Nursing Care Center in Lenox. Previously, he worked at Berkshire Medical Center and at Berkshire Life Insurance Co., both in Pittsfield. He enjoyed photography, woodworking and drafting and had designed and built his own home. He also played golf and was a fan of the Boston Red Sox. Besides his parents, of Lenox, he leaves three sons, Michael B. du Pont of Stockbridge, and Ryan H. and Adam H. du Pont, both of Lenox; a daughter, Lauren H. du Pont of Lenox; two sisters, Laura Liane Smith of Salisbury, Conn., and Charlene D. Bartini of Lee, and a brother, Stephen C. du Pont of Fayetteville, Ga. Another son, Richard M. du Pont, died Sept. 13, 2005. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mr. Richard Lyle du Pont, who died Aug. 6, 2006, will be celebrated Saturday morning at 10 at St. Ann's Church in Lenox. Burial will be in St. Ann's Cemetery on Wednesday, Sept. 13, the first anniversary of his son's death. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be to the Richard M. du Pont Theatrical Scholarship Fund in care of ROCHE FUNERAL HOME, 120 Main St., Lenox, MA 01240. He also leaves his brothers-in-law, Proctor Smith and Kevin Bartini; his sister-in-law, Catherine du Pont; his former wives, Margaretta C. du Pont and Michelle H. du Pont, and many nieces and nephews.
