Thomas "Tom" P. Goudey

Thomas "Tom" P. Goudey, 69, formerly of Stockbridge, died Wednesday, Aug. 2, at Geary Community Hospital in Junction City, Kan., where he had been living since 1979. Born in Pittsfield on Jan. 10, 1937, son of Thomas C. and Nora O'Hara Goudey, he graduated from the former Williams High School in 1955. A Vietnam War Army veteran, he was in the reserves from 1953 to 1957, followed by 20 years of active duty, retiring in 1977 as a master sergeant after 23 years of service. Mr. Goudey was the owner and the operator of Tom's Men's Wear in Junction City. along with his son Michael from 1987 until the time of his death. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. Mr. Goudey leaves his wife of 45 years, the former Rita Hartl, whom he married on Oct. 8, 1960, in Deggendorf, Germany. In addition to his wife, he leaves two sons, Thomas J. Goudey and Michael J. Goudey, both of Junction City; three daughters, Maureen Danielson of Tacoma, Wash., Debbie Soldano of Junction City and Sandra Sly of Topeka, Kan.; two brothers, Donald F. Goudey of Stockbridge and John J. Goudey of New Marlborough; a sister, Maureen Anguiano of Oceanside, Calif.; and nine grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for the late Thomas P. Goudey, who died Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2006, were held in Junction City on Aug. 8.
