Catherine F. Noble

Catherine F. Noble, 87, of 267A Spruce Drive died Saturday at Great Barrington Health Care. Born in the Bronx, on Oct. 4, 1918, daughter of Charles and Jeanne Bourgeot Ferrero, she attended schools in New York and was a graduate of Newtown High School in Manhattan. She was employed by John Kerrigan, president of Merck Pharmaceuticals, as his executive secretary while in Rahway, N.J. In 1953, she moved to Great Barrington and purchased the property now known as Seekonk Farm on Round Hill Road with her husband, the late Harry Noble. From 1953 to 1997, she was employed as executive secretary by the American Institute for Economic Research. Upon her retirement, Mrs. Noble worked into her early 80s at Red Horse Antiques. She and her husband were married Oct. 4, 1947, at the Community Church in Jackson Heights, N.Y. He died Aug. 15, 1965. Mrs. Noble was a member of St. Peter's Church. She was also a member of the Thursday Morning Club, the Great Barrington Historical Society and the Literacy Volunteers. She enjoyed gardening, oil painting, knitting, crocheting, walking and reading. She leaves two daughters, Kathleen Barbieri of Great Barrington and Linda Hamill of Otis; a sister, Jeannette Johnson of Edgartown; and two grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Celebration of Life Service for Catherine F. Noble, who died Saturday, Aug. 19, 2006, will be held Saturday, Aug. 26, at BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME from noon to 1:30 p.m. There are no calling hours, and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family in St. Peter's Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy in Catherine's memory may be made to the Mason Library Building Fund in care of the funeral home, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230-1815. She also leaves two sons-in-law, Tony and David, and two grandchildren, Kristine E. Barbieri and Daniel T. Hamill.
