Thelma P. Wells

Thelma P. Wells, 89, a resident of 445 Frost Road for the past 46 years, died Wednesday at her home. Born in Williamstown on Aug. 26, 1917, daughter of Charles and Addie Haley Leonard, she was educated in Hartford, Conn., schools. Mrs. Wells was a homemaker. At one time, she had worked as a waitress. She was a lifetime member of Berkshire Family History Association, where she served as treasurer. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and of The Mayflower Society. She enjoyed genealogy and cooking. Her husband, Kenneth J. Wells Sr., whom she married June 6, 1934, in Hartford, Conn., died Oct. 27, 2000. Mrs. Wells leaves two sons, Robert R. Wells and Larry B. Wells, both of Washington; a daughter, Patty Burke of Ocala, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. A son, Kenneth J. "Skippy" Wells Jr., died Feb. 4, 1988. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for Thelma P. Wells, who died Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2006, will be held Saturday, Sept. 2, at 9 a.m., at DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201. Burial will follow In Eastlawn Cemetery in Williamstown, where the Rev. Mark J. Burke, S.J., of St. Patrick and St. Raphael Parish will offer prayers at the grave. Calling hours will be today from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Dery Funeral Home in Pittsfield. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. Wells may be made to Berkshire Medical Center Cancer Research in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield. Mrs. Wells was also predeceased by her sister, Eleanore Wells, who died in October 1984. She also enjoyed being with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
