Larry R. Murray

Larry R. Murray, 63, of Main Street died yesterday at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. Born in Pittsfield on July 26, 1943, son of Edward and Virginia Bowen Murray, he was a 1961 graduate of the former Dalton High School and attended El Camino College in California. He owned and operated Larry Murray Excavating in Lake Hughes, Calif., from 1969 to 1974, when he returned to Becket to joined his father in the operation of Edward Murray and Son's Excavating. After his father's death in 1985, he established Larry Murray Excavating. He was married to the former Lorrie Billick. Besides his wife, he leaves three sons, Shawn P. Murray of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Stanley G. Murray and Donald L. Murray, both of Pittsfield; a daughter, Terry L. Morin of Pittsfield; a sister, Nancy J. O'Brien of Otis; and seven grandchildren. Another daughter, Heather Catheline Murray, is deceased. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Larry R. Murray of Becket, who died Sunday, Sept. 17, 2006, will be conducted Wednesday at 2 at First Congregational Church in Becket by the Rev. Michael C. Nash, pastor. Burial will follow in North Becket Cemetery. Visiting hours at KELLY FUNERAL HOME will be tomorrow from 4 to 7. In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations to the Lee VNA or to First Congregational Church in Becket, both in care of the funeral home, 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238. He leaves seven grandchildren, Samantha, Donny, Ashley, Matthew, Abigail, Gabrielle and Liam. He was predeceased by his brother, Mickey, and his sister, Jean. He and his wife shared their life together for 37 years.
