Enes L. Grassis

Enes L. Grassis, 93, of Sylvan Road, Monterey, died yesterday at Timberlyn Heights, where she had resided for the last several years. She had been a summer resident of Monterey since 1950 and a permanent resident since 1978. Born in New York City on Sept. 1, 1913, daughter of Julius and Teresa Ansaldi Mensi, she graduated from Evander Childs High School in New York City. At one time, she was employed as a bookkeeper. She also worked as a prep cook with her granddaughter at her granddaughter's restaurant, Viviani's Restaurante in Great Barrington. She was a communicant of St. Peter's Church, and enjoyed baking and crocheting. She was the widow of Richard Grassis. She leaves a son, Richard Grassis of LaVallete, N.J.; a daughter, Georgianna Pecorelli Eschen of Monterey; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Enes L. Grassis, who died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2006, will be held Friday at 9 a.m. from BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Peter's Church. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy in Enes' memory may be made to the Fairview Hospital or to the Activities Department at Timberlyn Heights Nursing Home, care of the funeral home, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230. She leaves a daughter-in-law, Maryann; two grandchildren, Nancy Pecorelli and Randy and his wife, Marilyn Pecorelli; three great-grandchildren, Cristina Temenos, Vincent and Iris Pecorelli.
