John B. "Jack" Higgins Jr.

John B. "Jack" Higgins Jr., 47, of Bud House, 185 Marble St., died Saturday at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Philadelphia on April 8, 1959, son of John Sr. and Mary Abbott Higgins, he attended schools there. He moved to Pittsfield in 1973 and graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1981. Mr. Higgins had made his home in Lee since 1990 and attended Baraco residential care facilities in Pittsfield. Besides his parents, of Pittsfield, he leaves a brother, Matthew Higgins of Atlanta; two sisters, Christine M. Newkirk of Weybridge, Vt.; and Irene R. Boynton of Grapevine, Texas. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial Liturgy of Christian Burial for John B. "Jack" Higgins, who died Saturday, Oct. 7, 2006, will be celebrated tomorrow at 10 at St. Mary's Church in Lee by the Rev. Daniel Papineau, pastor. There will be no visiting hours. Friends wishing may make donations to Special Olympics in care of KELLY FUNERAL HOME, 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238. Jack was predeceased by a sister, Melanie Higgins, in 1972. He leaves his housemates and caregivers at the Bud House and his six nieces and nephews. Jack touched the lives of all those who met him.
