Carol Everett "Joe" Baslow

Carol Everett "Joe" Baslow, 69, of 13 Wyantenuck St. in Housatonic died Monday at his home. He had lived in Housatonic since 1972. Born in New London, N.H. on May 2, 1937, son of Clyde and Wava Green Baslow, he attended schools in Warren, Vt. and moved to Great Barrington in 1966. He was a mechanic and machinist at Sheffield Plastics, retiring in December 1997 after 18 years. He was a member of the Housatonic Congregational Church, and enjoyed reading, jigsaw puzzles, camping, NASCAR, stock cars and bingo. He leaves his wife, the former Katherine Ostrander, whom he married on June 15, 1968, in South Egremont Congregational Church. Also, he leaves a son, Clyde Baslow of San Diego; three daughters, Donna Corbett of Fort Edward, N.Y., Lori Spinks of Randolph, Vt., and Rose Hansen of Florence, Vt.; a sister, Bernice Baslow of Bristol, Vt.; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for Carol E. Baslow, who died Monday, Oct. 16, 2006, will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 18, at 11 a.m. at the BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME, with the Rev. Anne Alvord officiating. Burial will be held on Thursday, Oct. 19, at 2 p.m. at the Warren Village Cemetery, Warren, Vt. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that expression of sympathy in "Joe's" memory be made to the Southern Berkshire Elderly Transportation Co. or to HospiceCare of the Berkshires in care of the funeral home, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230-1815.
