Helen I. "Nana" Naventi

Helen I. "Nana" Naventi, 93, of 55 Marble St. died yesterday at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. Born in Becket on July 25, 1913, daughter of Edward and Etta Fuller Murray, she moved to Lee as a child and was educated in both Becket and Lee schools. During World War II, she worked at General Electric Plastics in Pittsfield. A member of the Ladies Garment Union of America, she was a seamstress at Berkshire Coat Factory in Pittsfield, retiring in 1975. Prior to that, she was a seamstress at the Glix Brand Pajama Factory of Lee and later in Pittsfield, and Park Cleaners in Lee. She enjoyed making quilts for her family and charitable organizations, gardening and berry picking. She moved back to Becket in 1966, where she was a communicant of St. Matthew's Church and helped with their bazaars and maintaining the church. She was head of the Becket Council on Aging from 1988 to 1997. She returned to Lee in 1999, where she was a communicant of St. Mary's Church. Her husband, Henry "Rico" Naventi Sr., whom she married June 2, 1932, died Feb. 20, 1997. She leaves a son, Henry "Jack" Naventi Jr. of Tyringham; two daughters, Shirley N. Tyer of Fountain Hills, Ariz. and Jean N. Collins of Lee; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Helen I. "Nana" Naventi, who died Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2006, will be held Friday morning at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church in Lee. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. There will be no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations to Lee High School Library in care of KELLY FUNERAL HOME, 3 Main St. Lee, MA 01238. She was predeceased by five brothers and three sisters. She enjoyed her family, friends and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, along with her home.
