Robert G. Johnson

Robert G. Johnson, 68, of Tyler Street died Sunday at home. He was the owner of Johnson Sewing Machine Co. on Tyler Street. Born in Brandon, Vt., on Feb. 2, 1938, son of Elizabeth Johnson Courtemanche, he attended schools in Vermont. He moved to Pittsfield in 1967. He served in the Marines from 1956 to 1963. Mr. Johnson established the sewing machine company in 1987. Before that, he was employed by White Sewing Machine, which was located at the former England's department store. He was a Red Sox fan. He leaves a daughter, Cheryl Reed of Pittsfield; a brother, Glenn Simonds of New Hampshire; a sister, Alice Burnham of New Hampshire; and two grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Robert G. Johnson of Pittsfield died Sunday, Oct. 22. Loving grandfather to Jared and Shane Reed. Father-in-law to Larry Reed. Graveside services will be Thursday, Oct. 26, at 1 at North Ferrisburg (Vt.) Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. He was predeceased by two brothers, Roland Johnson and George Simonds. He also leaves his little dog, Pepo. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Berkshire Humane Society in care of DWYER FUNERAL HOME, 776 North St., Pittsfield, MA 01201 in his memory.
