Lawrence J. Marconi

Lawrence J. Marconi, 63, of 135 East St. died Sunday at Fairview Hospital. Born in Great Barrington on June 23, 1943, son of John R. and Grace Stupplebeen Marconi, he attended schools in Housatonic and was a 1962 graduate of the former Searles High School. He was an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War, serving from 1962 to 1965. He was employed by Housatonic Curtains, retiring in May. Previously, he worked at Mead Paper in Lee as a beater engineer, retiring in 2003 after 37 years of service. He and his wife, the former Judy Rhoades, were married April 3, 1971, in Richmond. Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Larry Marconi of Great Barrington, and a daughter, Jennifer VanAlphen of Great Barrington. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Lawrence J. Marconi, who died Sunday, Nov. 12, 2006, will be conducted tomorrow at 10 a.m. at BIRCHES ROY FUNERAL HOME by the Rev. Charles Van Ausdall. Burial with military honors will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Family will receive friends today from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that expressions of sympathy in Lawrence's memory be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230-1815. Mr. Marconi also leaves a son-in-law, Russell VanAlphen. A sister, Elaine Menard, died in 1986.
