Marlene McGovern

Marlene McGovern, 69, of 564 Chapel Road died Saturday at North Adams Regional Hospital. Born in Burlington, Vt., on Nov. 11, 1937, daughter of Warren and Elizabeth Griffiths Hagman, she attended schools in Wolcott, Vt. She also attended Berkshire Community College in Pittsfield and Charles H. McCann Technical High School in North Adams, graduating in 1982 as a licensed practical nurse. She was employed by the Hillcrest Educational Center in Pittsfield, retiring in 1995 with 13 years of service. Previously, she was employed by the former Avalon School in Lenox. Mrs. McGovern enjoyed traveling and country music. She and her husband, Terry McGovern, were married Feb. 9, 1962. Besides her husband, she leaves a son, Shane McGovern of Adams; five daughters, Tracey Keller of Port Orchard, Wash., Kelly Pizzi Smith of Pittsfield, Cynthia Love and Deanna Klein, both of North Adams, and Lisa Michalenko of Savoy; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. A daughter, Debbie Pizzi, is deceased. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Marlene McGovern, who died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2006, will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. from the TROTTIER-PRINGLE FUNERAL HOME, 6 Summer St., Adams, by the Rev. William R. Wilson Jr., pastor of Stamford Community Church. Burial will be in Savoy Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m.. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association in care of the funeral home. Mrs. McGovern had great love for her children and her dog, Coco. Two grandchildren, Jory Bentley and Warren Shane Patti, are deceased.
