Carol Annetta Wickwire

Carol Annetta Wickwire, 82, of Fairview Commons, a former longtime resident of New Marlborough, died yesterday at Fairview Hospital. She also previously lived at Heaton Court in Stockbridge for several years. Born in Sheffield on April 3, 1924, daughter of Harry and Myrtle Mansir Van Deusen, she attended the one-room schoolhouse in Hartsville and the Mill River School. Mrs. Wickwire attended Trinity Methodist Church in Ashley Falls and was a former member of the Sheffield Grange. She and her husband, Charles H. Wickwire Jr., were married April 3, 1945, in Canaan, Conn. He died Jan. 1, 1988. The couple lived in Canaan until moving to New Marlborough in the mid-1960s. She leaves a daughter, Nancy C. Wickwire of Hillsdale, N.Y.; two sons, Harold L. Wickwire of Ashley Falls and Charles F. Wickwire of Torrington, Conn.; three brothers, Donald Van Deusen, Robert Van Deusen and David Van Deusen, all of Sheffield; two sisters, Mildred Smith of Prospect, Conn., and Phyllis Hockett of Escondido, Calif.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Carol A. Wickwire, who died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2006, will be tomorrow, Dec. 2, at 11 at FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME in Great Barrington. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the Claire Teague Senior Center in Great Barrington through the funeral home, 426 Main St., Great Barrington, MA 01230.
