Anne Rose Gentile

Anne Rose Gentile, 89, of 232 North St. died yesterday at Williamstown Commons. Born in Ozone Park, N.Y., on Sept. 9, 1917, daughter of Emilio and Antoinette Lauri Allocco, she attended schools there. She moved to North Adams in 1941. Mrs. Gentile was employed by the former Sprague Electric Co. for more than 25 years, retiring in 1975. She worked at Columbia Wax Works in Ozone Park before moving to North Adams. She was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church and a former member of its Rosary Society. Her husband, Angelo Joseph "Kippy" Gentile, whom she married June 7, 1941, at St. Anthony's Church, died Oct. 7, 1981. He was a longtime chief foreman with the North Adams Public Works Department. She leaves a daughter, Rosanne Marsh of Williamstown; a son, Richard A. Gentile of Cheshire; two sisters, Carmela Puma of North Lauderdale, Fla., and Marion Gentile of Oakwood, Ga.; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Anne Rose Gentile, who died Sunday, Dec. 10, 2006, will be Wednesday at 10:15 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, CENTRAL CHAPEL, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at St. Anthony's Church, 64 Marshall St. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow from 4 to 7. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory are suggested for Elder Services of Berkshire County through the funeral home. She also leaves a daughter-in-law, Bernadette; four grandchildren, Anne Marie Brostek of Rotunda West, Fla., Christopher Marsh of Clarksburg, Michele A. Sawyer of Worthington and Vincent R. Gentile of North Adams; and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by four sisters, Amelia Manzo, Catherine Buzzo, Mary Pacchiano and Genevieve Rotolo, and by six brothers, Joseph, Frederick, Salvatore, Michael, Neil and Benjamin Allocco.
